I have been teaching Yoga for deaf and hearing impaired people since 1999. I specialise in accessing yoga to people with a range of health issues.
I am a qualified Inner Yoga Trust and British Wheel of Yoga registered teacher / practitioner. I danced from the age of four, when Yoga moved into my life I was sixteen and I knew I was 'home'. Though it has not always been easy for me to access as I am partially deaf. I forged a significant career in Deaf and Disability Arts. I developed a strong appreciation for equality, so when I started to teach Yoga I wanted to share Yoga with others who might not usually access it.
I have taught Deaf Yoga classes for staff members of (and most times on the premises of) DeafWorks, FYD, NDCS, Remark!, Old Church Balham, Sign Health Falcon Mews, Deaf Plus, DCAL, Oak Lodge School and the BBC.
My yoga is an expression of and has evolved from my understanding of the teachings of Sivananda Yoga, Satyananda Yoga, Yoga for Health Foundation, Iyengar Yoga, Inner Yoga Trust - Jenny Beeken, Gary Carter and teachers of Scaravelli's approach to yoga. My practice is responding to physical, mental / emotional needs, to the seasons and moon cycles and space and place.
Specific teachers I continue to learn from are: Swami Pragyamurti, Marco Cannavo, Ingrid Kottler, Pete Blackaby.
